This is a first for my blog, but how about that rain? I feel like New York has been in a perpetual state of downpour for the entire month of September. Nothing is worse than your outfit being ruined or your freshly straightened hair reversing to unruly curls due to vicious rain. In a city as densely populated as New York, the addition of poor weather conditions will only result in one thing: mayhem. Videos of flooded subways and neighborhood streets surfaced on the internet, leaving every New Yorker startled by the chaos in the place we call home.
The gloomy weather tends to bring out the worst in us all. Why be productive when the sun is tucked away behind the clouds? What's the use in putting yourself together, all for the elements to wither away at your conscientious efforts? Out of bad habit, we resort to pessimism when facing external disorder. We see a similar effect during states of political unrest or, in a more microcosmic situation, a stressful semester at school. One bad class metastasizes into the grand idea that the entire world is terrible.
“What's the use in trying so hard when the system around you is crumbling?” the pestering pessimist insists so confidently. Well, we try for the hope that the sun will rise and our hard work can see the light of a new day. We continue to try because the alternative is a grim brick wall etched with the word “halt.” Continue to wear your pretty dresses in the rain. Continue to try even when the pessimists try to convince you there's no use in trying. Continue being productive even when the sun decides to sleep in. I could spout cliches like “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere” or “Learn to dance in the rain,” but I'm more creative than the public domain that ChatGBT has access to. Instead, continue to try even when the world is in a state of downpour. Never let the polluted rainwater wash away the sparkle that exists inside you.
thank you for this :‘)
